MEET US

C.B.O

Oshodi Noble Heritage (ONH) is a registered community based organization in Oshodi established on the 26th Dec. 2004. The organization is particularly concerned with redirecting and mobilizing the youth towards community development by sensitizing them towards environmental sanitation, maintenance, protection, and educating the public on health related matters so as to establish a healthy habitable Oshodi.

OUR FOCUS
The focus of ONH encompasses merely three endeavours:
· Health Enlightenment and Humanitarian service
· Environmental sanitation, maintenance and protection
· Youth Empowerment

WHY WE EXIST
The existence of ONH was jolted out of the under-listed, reasons.
· To promote public health consciousness and humanitarian services among Oshodi inhabitants.
· To mobilize and redirect the youth towards community development.
· To promote self reliance and creativity among Oshodi youths.
· To promote socio-cultural, economic and political system of the Nation.

WHAT WE DO
To actualize our objectives and stand for what we mean, ONH organizes several programmes and activities relevant to the lives of Oshodi Inhabitants.

PUBLIC HEALTH ENLIGHTENMENT
On a quarterly basis, ONH organizes Public Health Enlightenment programme to educate the public on certain health-related issues. Competent medical practitioners are invited to enlighten the public on some common ailments and diseases. Thousands of people have benefited from the information offered from this programme.
The following are the public health enlightenment organized by ONH.

1st Public Health Enlightenment
Date: Su. 7th May, 2007
Venue: Mukandasi Street , Oja Idera Market, Mafoluku – Oshodi.
Topic: Diabetes: Causes, Effect, Prevention and Cure.
Attendance: 95 members

2nd Public Health Enlightenment
Date: Sat. 8th August 2006
Venue: Oshodi/Isolo Local Govt. Secretariat
Topic: Diabetes: Causes, Effect, Prevention and Cure
Attendance: 140 members

3rd Public Health Enlightenment
Date: 17th Dec. 2006
Venue: Baale Owoso Frontage shogunle, Owoso Street , Shogunle Beside Police Station.
Topic: Diabetes: Causes, Effect, Prevention and Cure
Attendance: 210

4th Public Health Enlightenment
Date: Sat. 20th May 2007
Venue: 24, Owoseni Street , Oshodi.
Topic: Malaria: Causes, Effects, Prevention & Cure.
Attendance: 200

5th Public Health Enlightenment
Date: Sat. 1st Dec., 2007
Venue: Oba Ewu Palace, Popoola Street Ewutuntun Oshodi.
Topic: Malaria/Typhoid Fever: Coping with the scourge
Attendance: 150

6th Public Health Enlightenment
Date: Sat. 29th March 2008.
Venue: Saubana Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi
Topic: Hepatitis B. What you need to know.
Attendance: 122

7th Public Health Enlightenment
Date: Sat. 28th, June 2008
Venue: 31, Mosaku Street , Oshodi.
Topic: Hepatitis B. Causes, effects, prevention and cure.

It should be specially noted that in the above programmes, not less than 20 Medical Doctors, who were bred and buttered in Oshodi participated in the Health care services, free medical check-up and distribution of drugs.

FREE MOBILE CLINIC
At every public health Enlightenment, free clinical services were offered. Highlighted below are the clinical services which hundreds of Oshodites have benefited so far.
· Screening for Hypertension
· Screening for diabetes
· Free drugs distribution

HUMANITARIAN SERVICE
Out of her fervent passion for the disabled, ONH pays regular visit to the physically-challenged home to offer them humanitarian services, distributing food and other appreciable materials. This service is rendered to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged and to make them realize they are not forgotten.
The following are humanitarian visits organized by ONH:

1st Humanitarian Visit
Date: 7th, May 2007
Venue: Center for the blind, and farm craft, Nigeria Air Force Base, Ikeja.

2nd Humanitarian Visit
Date: 19th, July 2007
Venue: Blind centre, Cappa Oshodi.
3rd Humanitarian Visit
Date: Sun. 27th, May 2007
Venue: Federal Neuro-Psychiatric hospital, Oshodi- Annex, Cappa.

COURTESY VISITS
Members of the organization pay domiciliary visit to some important personalities and stakeholders at least once in a month. Moments with such personalities are usually interactive and educative. Some dignitaries have received the visit ONH.

SANITATION
On a monthly basis, ONH carries out sanitary activities in some prominent places within Oshodi. Its members also engage in environmental repair/maintenance activities viz; filling of pot holes on major roads within Oshodi.
ONH organized an environmental sanitation at Oshodi/Isolo Local Govt. Daycare Center on the 17th Aug. 2006.

LEADERSHIP SEMINAR / CAPACITY BUILDING
ONH organizes annual leadership Seminar for the youth to empower and imbibe in them qualitative leadership skills. The programme is meant for stakeholders, community leaders, club leaders and prefects of Senior Secondary schools.
The following are the capacity building programmes organized by ONH.

1st Capacity Building

Topic: Towards a sustainable community development.
Speaker: Comrade Ola Murisiku
Attendance: 96 members

2nd Capacity Building
Date: Feb. 23rd 2008
Venue: 47, Oshundeyi Street , Mafoluku, Oshodi.
Topic: Building the leaders: A legal perspective.
Speaker: Barrister Lateef Lawal
Attendance: 90 members

HERITAGE WEEK
Heritage week is a programme organized annually. The programme is designed and packaged to discuss the lost heritage of our contemporary society. It also features the presentation of award of excellence to some noble personalities in the community.

FILM SHOW
The film show is organized biannually for the public. Movies shown are relevant to happenings in the society.
The programme was organized twice by ONH.

1st Public Film Show
Date: May 29th 2006, Democracy day
Venue: Samuel B/Stop at Night Market, Mafoluku, Oshodi.
Title: Last Vote: this is to enlighten the public on the essence of voting in credible leader and voting wisely.
Attendance: 177

2nd Public Film Show
Date: May 29th 2007, Democracy day
Venue: Saka Street , Shogunle, Oshodi.
Title: Hotel Rwanda: To enlighten the public on hazardous effect of political violence and Tribal Sentiment.
Attendance: 210
